Vrasidas Zavras is today a General Manager of Piraeus Bank Group, leading its Green Banking Sector and the Environmental Department of Piraeus Bank Group.

The basic responsibilities of his current position include the encouragement and strengthening of environmental banking businesses, the design and promotion of “green” banking products, the environmental risk assessment of small medium and large enterprises, the incorporation of environmentally friendly procedures in the operational structure of Piraeus Bank, the energy efficient designing of the Bank’s branches and buildings. Additionally, his responsibilities include training of Bank employees and informing investors on the above mentioned issues.

Born in Athens in 1963 and following his studies at the Technical University of Piraeus, he worked from 1982 to 1988 as a Technical Civil Engineer for private construction companies preparing specific studies for both, private and public projects.  Since 1988, he has been active in nature conservation and in the elaboration of management plans for the sustainable development of coastal and insular areas, acting until 2004 as Head of Policy and Funding of MOm, a Greek non-governmental organization.

From 2001 to 2004, he was also a member of the Board of the National Centre for the Environment and Sustainability and from 2006 to 2012 he was the Vice President of WWF Greece.

Today, he is a member of the Corporate Responsibility Committee of Piraeus Bank and since May 2011 he is a member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation and since February 2013 member of the Board of Directors of “EXELIXI S.A.” In addition he is a Board member at “Piraeus Capital Management SA” and at the Investment Committees of “Piraeus-Taneo Capital Fund” and the Rural Development Funds of Central Macedonia and Thessaly regions.

Since 2009, he is the CEO of “ETVA Industrial Areas S.A.”, one of the largest subsidiary companies of Piraeus Bank Group, which manages 27 industrial areas in Greece. Last but not least, he is the Chairman of the Hellenic Fund of Sustainable Development, which was established in 2014, with a scope of capital participation and financial support of business plans with sustainable environmental and social performing indicators.

Vrasidas Zavras lives in Athens and speaks English and French.
